what's in a name?

No, this is not my belly, probably could be (image courtesy of google.) So we're having another Hannam, 20 weeks tomorrow, down hill from here. We have chosen to not know the gender of this wee little babe, which makes naming a bit tricky in my opinion. However, if you are friends with Matt on facebook you know by now that he has deemed the gender and also given this child a name, he also refers to him or her as this name often.

For some reason not knowing the gender has my naming skills in a tizzy, I guess I think we'll go into the hospital with a list of both boy and girl names and see what he or she looks like but hey a baby looks like a baby, right? It feels like more pressure this time or perhaps the pressure comes from the fact that it very well could be a girl and whew, girl name are so hard for us. I have a few that I like, and due to the fact that I grew up in Charleston SC most of them are very southern, which could be fun, but this is the name that this child will have forever. I like a few other names that upon further investigation are on the top baby name lists and are very trendy right now. Not sure that's the way we want to go either.

So here's the deal...your chance to help a sister out. Have you ever thought hey if my last name was Hannam and I was having a baby I would name it______. Oh and it probably needs to "go" with Ollie whatever that means. When I was growing up I always dreamed that if I had a little girl I would name her Hannah, but Hannah Hannam...not so much. The bright side is, she'd only really have to know 4 letters to spell her name. So bring it on, I can't wait to hear what you suggest!

Oh my goodness! I love baby names! And, I didn't get to name my girls what I originally wanted to b/c we went with family names instead of just names we liked! We liked "Peyton" for a boy and "Payton" for a girl at one time. For Natalie, the top other names were either "Caroline" (with a long-i sound) and "Rachel." We went in both times to the hospital not knowing what we'd end up naming our kiddos. We totally did the whole 'see what they look like' thing and it worked like a charm both times. AND we didn't know the sex of Joy before her birth and it was sooooooo fun not knowing, so bravo to you and Matt for waiting! It'll be awesome! Much love, Haley

Well, I asked Chase what Ollie should name his sister if it was a girl and he said "Austen". I thought of Charlotte or Savannah or any other great southern towns that would play into complimenting Ollie. I punched Oliver into one of the baby sites I use and the names that most parents choose for girls when they have a boy named Oliver are Charlotte, Lily, Isabella, Emma, Amelia, Zoe, Ava, Sophia, Sophie, Abigail
so maybe Charlotte's not too far off! This will be fun to see what you pick! :-)

How funny that everyone is commenting on girl names and not boy. Everyone must think you are having a girl! I have a whole slew of girl names I could give you. As far as boy names...I like Hudson, Bryce, Finley (Finn), and Colby.

Here's one that brings back memories, "Chloe". Chloe goes with Ollie and is in the Bible (l Cor.1:11) Don't know about a middle name though. (I like Molly too.) Fun, fun, fun!

We're partial to irish names in our house. Had some in mind, but obviously didn't get to use them. Let me know if you're interested....
