It still fits...

6 years, lots of french fries, La Bamba, reeces peanut butter cups, one baby, and my wedding dress still fits. Never mind the fact that it might look like I am breathing in this picture. This past Saturday was mine and Matt's 6th anniversary and every year I put on my dress and thankfully it has always fit, :). We also have one square of our cake left, yes from 6 years ago. And every July 7th, Matt pulls it out of the back of the freezer unwraps the many layers of saran wrap and we have a bite. I can't say that it is nearly as delicious as it was 6 years ago, but traditions like this help keep our quirky little love thang going. Maybe next year our little love child will get to have his first bite of our wedding cake, yum! The mountain of mercy...

Matt and I just got back from a mini-vacation to Damascus, VA. This was the cabin that we rented. It was so peaceful and comfy. Ollie stayed with his grandparents, he had fun, they had fun and most importantly Matt and I reconnected, what a blessing to be with the one you love.
We went down the "Creeper Trail" which is this beautiful 17 mile trail that winds down the mountain. I love the way the air smells in the mountains, it reminds me of summer camp growing up. I wish I could bottle that smell and take it out on days when I need to be reminded of God's goodness.
Here's my sweetie, you can stop and have lunch at the Creeper Cafe. We did and had a slice of chocolate cake that was written up in Southern Living.

We highly recommend taking a break from the everyday life...its good for your mind, heart and soul. Today is our 6th anniversary...stay tuned for some pictures of our yearly events.

To teethe or not to teethe, this is the question

Okay, so last week when my parents were here to visit my mom said she thought that Ollie was "teething." Hmm, I said he's only 4 months old. He was of the somewhat fussy nature when she was keeping him...I just kinda brushed it off to be more new people in my space kind of fussing. But upon further investigation, I think she might just be right. Here are his signs: drooling (yikes, a lot), chewing on anything, including my fingers any time they are near, slight rash around the mouth (that's probably from the drool) well and, sigh, fussiness. Ollie has been thus far a very content baby, so any change in his demeanor throws us off a bit. So what do you think, lets do another bloggers poll, when did your baby start teething? The internet machine says it can happen as early as 4 months...yay! I'd love any tips and or suggestions, :).

Happy Daddy's Day!!!

So today is Matt's 1st Father's day. Here are some things that I appreciate about him.He is handy, just take a look at this dream deck. We are so excited about enjoying this new part of our home this summer.

He's great at entertaining Ollie. Just look at those sweeties watching t.v. together, sorry mom, they may or may not be watching the Simpsons.

He's great at feeding Ollie, today he gave him his first bowl of rice cereal. Can you believe Ollie is 4 months old already. Umm, I think he liked it, he only gagged one time.

He does a great job helping out around the house, thanks to the Harkey's Roomba, this has become a lot easier. For real this thing works great, you just put it in a room, shut the door and let it clean.

He does a great job loving us! Matty, Ollie and I think you are the bestest dad ever. Here is a shout out to all the baby's daddys of the world...enjoy your day...kick back...relax, take the day off you deserve it.

Schools out for...SUMMER!

Whew, I made it! Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I've got to admit it is no easy task working a full time job and coming home and starting your second full time job. The good news is Ollie did great with all his new aunts (our sweet friends) and cousins. His grandma from Virginia spent the week with us this week, I'm pretty sure she taught him some Latin. My parents are on their way here to spend a few days with us. My dad will help Matt build our fabulous new deck and my mom will be on Ollie duty as I finish cleaning up my classroom next week.

It was hard going back to work, but I think I needed it. When you are with your sweet baby all the time, well I know with me I think I just try to control him or the situation too much. But this experience helped me to learn how to trust the Lord more, to lean on Him and know that He is taking care of my sweet Ollie. Trust in the Lord with all your heart.

As for the Hannams, let the good times roll. We will be spending the next few months on the Water Weasel (as seen above), hanging out and drinking sweet tea on our new deck, you should come on by and sit a spell!

Back to Work and bucket trucks

We had a fun weekend in Charleston this weekend, Ollie's first trip to see where his Charleston grandparents live. He did really good on the car trip down there. On the way back yesterday we made a side trip to Campobello, S.C. where Bravo Signs purchased it's first bucket van (Ollie wanted to test it out today.) It's pretty cool it lifts up to 40 feet so if you need to ride in any parades, I know a guy who can hook you up.

Well, tomorrow I go back to work for the last 9 days of school. I've really enjoyed being at home for 3 months with master Oliver, but I am actually a little bit excited about going back to close the year up with my second grade friends. We are so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family that will be hanging out with Ollie for these few weeks, I'd love for your prayers for us during this short time of transition. I am glad that I will get to continue my stint as a stay at home mom for the rest of the summer.

The Diaper Challenge/ the update...

* I just wanted to let my readers know that the Target diaper challenge has gone well so far. The only negative I can think of is that they don't have that sweet little baby powder smell that Pampers do, but come to think of it, Ollie hasn't sneezed quite as much since Sunday....hmmm. Thanks for all the comments.


Okay, so we have gone through so many diapers the last 12 weeks. And I guess if that's the only thing we are spending money on, then maybe its alright. So far Ollie's been only a Pampers baby, but I've heard that the Target diapers work just as well during the day. I decided to check it out and see, the Target brand diapers are less than half the price. Moms of blogworld (well and dads if you have an opinion) I want to hear your voice. What is the 411 with generic diapers?? Stay tuned and I'll update you on my challenge, so far so good, and hey 40 diapers for $5.74, I can throw them away if they don't work.
