Oh, those little ears
We were back at the doctor today, Dr. Keiffer loves to see us by now. We started going to see her on November 17 for a possible ear infection and since then we've been back 5 times. Today was just an ear check, but Ollie's left ear is still infected. We've exhausted all of the anti-biotic options, so today we started 3 days of anti-biotic shots... bringing out the big guns. We also received a referral to an ENT, which Matt and I are relieved about because hopefully they will be able to tell us what is going on with those darn estation tubes.
I've learned some things about Ollie in the midst of 4 ear infections...he is still so sweet and fun even when he doesn't feel good. He also has thrown up at night every time before being diagnosed with another infection. He likes to snuggle when his ears hurt real bad. He is learning perseverance as early as 10 months. Today I am thankful for my job which provides me great insurance and thankful that it will get better.

Baltimore and back...
Matt and I gave each other a gift of presence this Christmas. On Wednesday we went to Baltimore for three days, we wanted to go to New York, but it just didn't work out, so we thought this would be a good compromise. We had a great time being together, don't get me wrong we missed our little honey bunches of oats, but getting away with my sweetie was just what Santa ordered.
We actually stayed in Fells Point which is one of the little sections within Baltimore. It was so cute and quaint and the hotel we stayed in "Admiral Fell Inn" was just delightful. We parked the car on Wednesday when we got there and didn't take it out of the parking garage until we were ready to go.
So we came back on Friday night really late and on Saturday I cashed in on my other favorite present....the gift of ease. I've always wanted to try one of those places where you go and fix the food and have meals ready and waiting for you in the freezer, but I was skeptical. Two weeks ago a new place Entree Vous came and brought the whole staff at Hunter lunch. They brought three different selections and everything was delicious. So on Saturday I went and picked up 6 meals for what I think is a steal, call me if you want to talk details. Last night and tonight we have been enjoying the greek meatloaf, YUM, which is a marriage of one of Matt's favorite things meatloaf and one of my favorite things...feta cheese! I'll update you on how we've enjoyed the rest of our meals...why didn't I do this a long time ago?! Happy New Year!

Ollister !!!
So I came to the conclusion this past weekend that I probably do not post nearly enough pictures of Ollie on my website. I know how it is, you people love Matt and I but the truth is, it is all about the kid, :). So here is the Ollie 411 and some cute pics. Here is one of Ollie's newest tricks, standing up in his crib, well he pretty much crawls and pulls and stands up on just about anything. He is a boy on the go...we are officially in baby proofing mode on Efland Drive. Ollie has many nicknames, but the newest one is Wiley, whew, just last night he pulled his nightlight out of the wall and went to stick his finger in the socket...fun times!
Ollie met Santa on Saturday in Oriental, NC, he didn't seem to be phased by this fella dressed in all red, but he thought his beard was fun to pull on.
People tell me all the time that Ollie looks just like me, well look at this photo, these are the two handsomest men I've ever seen. P.S. Ollie's eyes are turning green like his daddy's.
Ollie will be 10 months old on Christmas day...my time flies, he's 30 inches tall, 20 lbs and so much fun. We love being his mommy and daddy!

The in between...
I had a few moments today to have a quiet time. Honestly, since Ollie has been born and going back to work, etc, etc., these moments have been too few and far between. I was reading from the "blue book," a book that has scripture and such about topics and today I read something that seemed to be screaming my number.
We keep praying that our illusions will fall away. God erodes them from many sides, hoping they will fall. But we often remain in what we call normalcy, "the way things are." Life becomes problem-solving, fixing, explaining, and taking sides with winners and losers. It can be pretty circular and even nonsensical existence.
Instead, we have to allow ourselves to be drawn into sacred space. All transformation takes place there. We have to move out of "business as usual" and remain on the "threshold," where we are betwixt and between. There, the old world is left behind, but we're not sure of the new one yet. That's a good space. Get there often and stay there as long as you can by whatever means possible. It's the realm where God can best get at us because we are out of the way. In sacred space the old world is able to fall apart, and the new world is able to be revealed. If we don't find time for this kind of space in our lives, we start idolizing normalcy. We end up believing it's the only reality and our lives shrivel. -Richard Bohr

So Thankful
It's Veteran's Day...sorry it's been so long since my last post. I'm officially a stay at home wife and mom today. I am thankful for so many things. I got to sleep in a little bit this morning with both of my boys on either side of me in the bed (like old times.) I am thankful that my parents are alive and well, I attended a visitation this past weekend of one of my dear sweet friends from Charleston's mom, Miss Wanda, who was also a dear best friend to my mom. Her battle with a really bad lung disease ended on Thursday, and she went home to be with Jesus. Matt and I have so much to be thankful for, a beautiful, healthy son, food to eat, a home to snuggle in, our love for each other, great friends who care about us so much, and loving supportive families.
Matt sent this video to me the other day and I just sat down to watch it, this will truly make you thankful as well. Please be warned you will need tissues, but I hope you will walk away as I am thankful for Jesus and his love and promises to care for us in all circumstances.

Oh, to be a Hannam!
Just thought I would give you a little update of the haps on Efland Drive. It's 7:38 pm and Matt decided to re-tile our kitchen floor. He's been wanting to do it for a while, but tonight was the night. Um, yeah, the fridge is in our bedroom, I can see now, " Hey, Whit, can you hand me a beer!" Fun times, we're thinking something maybe the color of cheerios, :). I sure hope your Friday night is as much fun as ours. Stay tuned for pics of handyman Hannam and his latest creation. Oh yeah, Ollie is sound asleep in his crib, well for now at least.

Guess what....I got a new swing!!!
This past weekend Ollie got dedicated at church, it was sweet time for him and our family. He got a new swing as his "dedication present." He wanted to make sure that I invited all of his friends to come and swing with him. I love that kid...his little smile melts my heart!

Then and now
Our friend Justin and Millie brought little Grayson Wynn into the world the other night. I went to see her and she is just the cutest tiniest little thing, even being 8lbs 12 oz. It just made me want to remember sweet little tiny baby Ollie. Here is a picture of him about two weeks old, I can tell because I still am wearing my pj's, I kinda lived in them back those days, whew!
Here is the latest Ollie photo session from this afternoon. Overalls and a cowboy hat...what you don't see is him eating dirt...yeah, I was reflecting on my post (2nd one in one week, :) and yeah he was eating dirt. Um, he's pretty much all boy and Matt and I love it!
I've had enough of being cute, mom!!!

The Hannam Update...
Sorry it's been so long since my last post. I've been busy with work, being a mom, wife, etc., and Matt and I have been on the go for the past few weekends. I've really enjoyed being back at work, it's been refreshing to my brain. I love being a mommy, but I also really enjoy being a teacher. Two weekends ago we went to Rock Hill, NC for the wedding of my sweet friend Carla. Matt and I were both in the wedding which was fun. Then this past weekend we went to Smith Mountain Lake with all the Hannams, it was a beautiful, fun time. Here are some highlights from our ventures:Here comes the bride, with the girls, we got to pick out our own Chocolate brown dresses, fun!

Squeezing out the last little juice of summer
We went to the Grasshopper's game last week with some friends, look at all those babies. Matt, Ollie and I are in the back behind the yellow thing. We got to sit in the Kavanagh box, courtesy of the Sasser family. It was fun.
Ollie stayed up way past his bedtime, and then fell asleep on Matt's lap when he just couldn't take it any more. Summer '07, it's been tons of fun, one we won't forget for a long time.
Oh yeah, Ollie is sitting up pretty good these days. He loves spending time with Aunt Jenny, I think he misses his mommy, but they're having fun. I start school tomorrow. It should be a fun year, 9 girls, 7 boys, nine of my students are Hispanic...uhh, maybe I will hablo something or other by the end of the year.

lazy days of summer
Ollie and I are enjoying our last few days of summertime together. I feel rested and rejuvenated after have almost 6 months off from work. Matt, Ollie and I had some fun adventures and bonded as a family this summer, good times. Monday I go back to teaching 2nd grade and Ollie will get to hang out with "Aunt" Jenny, his new nanny, which we are excited about the ways she is going to bless our little one.
We had a photo shoot in the front yard the other day and here are a few of my favorites. It's amazing what you can do with a digital camera, a down comforter, and an Ollie.

Our trip on the _____????
So the boys and I went on our first adventure on the new and slightly bigger sailboat this past weekend. It was really fun, really hot, but fun. Ollie liked the way the boat rocked him to sleep at night, he is a born sailor I think. We still don't know what to name the boat, perhaps you will be inspired and send your idea our way. Here are some pictures from the weekend.
Here she is, the new, well new to us, Erickson 27'. We have the boat in a slip in Havelock, NC, home of Cherry Point military base. The town is kinda lackluster, but we found some good Mexican food and that is all that matters, :).
Here is our little deckhand in his dreamy little bed we made for him, he enjoyed our little window air unit at night. Next summer we'll have to put that netting stuff all around the sides, fun times.
This is Captain Hannam sailing the new boat. We did have to jump into the river at one point, to cool off, fortunately this boat has a really fancy ladder on the back no more struggles to pull your self in. It was a good weekend to be away with my sweetie, if you're looking for a water adventure, just give us a call, we can get there in about 4 hours.

Summertime Adventures
This summer Ollie has been on some very fun adventures, it's exciting that everything is a first for him. Here he is at the Green Valley Pool, his first of many times swimming this summer. I think he really likes it.
Here we are taking a break in Africa, well the Asheboro Zoo's section of Africa. We're not sure if Ollie knew he was at the zoo, but he enjoyed his long stroller ride.
Ollie started eating a little bit of veggies with his cereal, doesn't it look yummy!
